Staffordshire Boasts the Flattest Tums as Record Numbers Opt for Tucks 05/06/2008
Staffordshire, 5th June, 2008 - Record numbers of people are opting for tummy tucks, according to a leading Staffordshire private hospital. Nuffield North Staffordshire saw a rise in the procedure of 111 per cent when comparing figures from 2006 to 2007. Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) was the biggest growth area of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures, which include breast augmentation, breast reduction, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), facelifts, liposuction and rhinoplasty (nose surgery). The hospital released the figures as it announced the launch of a new cosmetic brand, Imagelift (www.imageliftsurgery.co.uk) - a cosmetic surgery consultancy headed up by leading Staffordshire surgeons Mr Paul Davison, Mr Dan Prinsloo and Mr Jeremy Roberts at The Nuffield Hospital North Staffordshire.
Figures for the same period showed rhinoplasty to be the next biggest growth area with a rise of 92 per cent, followed by facelifts at a 64 per cent increase. Breast enlargement numbers increased by 20 per cent, and continues to remain the top cosmetic surgery procedure at Nuffield North Staffordshire, which has been established for 30 years, and offering cosmetic surgery for fifteen of those. The year on year growth in this area prompted the hospital consutlants to launch Imagelift to cope with the rising demand for cosmetic surgery procedures.
According to Mr Jeremy Roberts, Imagelift consultant plastic surgeon:
"Imagelift has been launched to reflect the demand for cosmetic surgery in Staffordshire and surrounding areas. It offers surgical expertise from three experienced consultants each with specialist interests that complement each other, to ensure that local people have access to the highest standards in aesthetic services. For too long, Harley Street or London based cosmetic surgery practices have been seen as the cream of the crop, however, we feel our local Nuffield's offering is second to none."
Mr Jeremy Roberts entered plastic surgery training in 1983, during which he worked for, and assisted in private practice, some of the foremost cosmetic surgeons of the time. In 1991 he was awarded a Master of Surgery Degree (London) for plastic surgical research, and was appointed Consultant Plastic Surgeon to the North Staffordshire Health Authority (now the University Hospital of North Staffordshire) in 1992, where continues to be an NHS consultant with a broad practice and commitment to training the plastic surgeons of the future. Since 1992 he has based his private work at the North Staffordshire Nuffield Hospital. Mr Roberts is deeply committed to ethical cosmetic surgery, which was recently recognised by the Parliamentary Information Office where he was appointed National Advisor on good practice in cosmetic surgery and editorial writer on the subject in the Parliamentary Year Book.
Dan Prinsloo is fully trained and qualified in all aspects of cosmetic surgery and has extensive experience in the entire field of plastic surgery since 1989. He received advanced training in plastic surgery in South Africa, Taiwan, Japan and Scotland before taking up a consultant position in South Africa. He moved to the UK 10 years ago. Mr Prinsloo is also actively involved in the training of plastic and reconstructive surgeons in the West Midlands rotation. His sub specialties include all aspects of breast surgery, face and neck lift, tummy tuck and liposuction.

Fellow surgeon Mr Paul Davison completes the Imagelift trio, and has been a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at University Hospital of North Staffordshire NHS Trust for 16 years. He is the Lead Clinician for Plastic Surgery Training in the West Midlands Region, a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and a member of the Breast Care Team supporting patients in reconstructive surgery. His specialties include all forms of breast surgery, eyelid, nose and ear reshaping, abdominal reduction and body sculpting.

Says Nuffield Hospital General Manager David Slater:
"More and more people of all ages are opting for cosmetic surgery procedures to keep the years at bay or to enhance their appearance to boost their confidence and make them feel good about themselves. The launch of Imagelift is great news for Staffordshire and Shropshire patients who value quality of care and expertise. We often see people choosing the wrong type of provider or going abroad for surgery where things can go wrong and they might not have the after care required following cosmetic surgery. At Nuffield's Imagelift we have the region's top plastic surgeons and the right facilities to ensure anyone opting for aesthetic procedures is well catered for."
Nuffield Hospital North Staffordshire is located on the Clayton Road in Newcastle, North Staffordshire. For further information about the cosmetic services offered by Imagelift, call 01782 625431 or visit www.imageliftsurgery.co.uk.
